Interiors Inspiration: How To Style A Barcart

In case you were fascinated by your gran's barcart and that pretty crystal glassware you were never allowed to touch, it's time to celebrate their comeback...

We find barcarts quite fascinating - they are as practical as they are beautiful, can be wheeled around from room to room, and they double as storage/display, but can also be put away when not needed. As you know, at Home|Lust, we love glamour and versatility, so, yes, this is one of our favourite items in the house.

The Mad Men-esque barcart comes in all shapes, designs and materials nowadays, and can be used as a mobile occasional side table, a bedside table or pretty console, when styled right..

The Cocktail Cart | Liquor vessels, barcart bottles, wine decanters and cocktail-making paraphernalia add a sexy touch to your next dinner party. In the dining room it can store your prettiest serveware and table linen when not in use.

Livingroom Display | Think vignettes of interestingly-shaped vases, framed photos and antique touches. Add a trailing succulent in a statement plantpot, and voilà, grown-up sophistication made easy.

Elegant Bedside Table | You can do a lot with it in the bedroom: neat piles of  books, scented candles, some trinket boxes and travel souvenirs artfully arranged atop a vintage nighstand? Oh, yes!

Elegant Bathroom Storage | If you think a cart has no place in the bathroom, think again. Where else will you store those beautiful perfume bottles and ... champagne cooler?

So if you are looking for a Gatsby-esque antique brass and marble barcart, a vintage industrial wood and metal one, or a contemporary concrete one, a barcart is the most versatile furniture accessory that can bring an instant update in any room of the house.
